Today, we will explore the historical city of Pakistan, Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab, which is rich in the best to see. Each site offers a unique glimpse into Lahore’s vibrant heritage.
The Lahore Fort is an impressive Mughal-era structure built in the early 16th century.
The sightseeing includes a visit to the Mausoleum of Emperor Jahangir. Jahangir, who ruled the Mughal Empire from 1605 to 1627, built it. The mausoleum is located in Shardah Bagh, Lahore, Punjab. It is a single-story structure with a square ground plan. The mausoleum features a platform with a tall, octagonal tower and a projecting entrance in the middle of each side. The exterior is adorned with red sandstone facing and rich panel decorations inlaid with marble motifs.
The Shalimar Gardens are a beautifully landscaped Mughal complex with lush greenery and fountains. The Badshahi Mosque is a stunning example of Mughal architecture.
One of the unique experiences you can witness in Lahore is the Flag Lowering Ceremony. It is a captivating display where rangers from both sides of the border put on a fabulous parade and perform a ceremonial flag lowering in a charged environment. A scenic journey that is full of fun and activities begin this morning as we leave the city of history. En route, we will visit Rohtas Fort, one of the most imposing historical monuments representing the Mughal architectural style of Pakistan. The Rohtas Fort sprawls upon a low rocky hill to the north of Jhelum, in a bend of the River Ghan (also spelled as Kahan). This gigantic fort is founded on steep rocks jutting into the River Kahan, with its ramparts protected on the west and north sides by the river and by high hills on the east and south. It was never taken by assault and survived intact to the present day. The main fortifications consist of massive walls, extending for more than 4km, lined with bastions and pierced by monumental gateways.

The next amazing highlight is Khewra Salt Mines, a salt mine located in Khewra, Jhelum District, Punjab, Pakistan, about 260 kilometers from Lahore and 160 kilometers from Islamabad. It attracts up to 40,000 visitors per year and is the second-largest salt mine in the world. Situated in the foothills of the Salt Range, the Khewra Salt Mines are the oldest in the subcontinent. A tourist train runs inside the mine tunnels. Inside the mine, there are incredible sculptures and structures made of salt. The region also boasts plenty of popular souvenir shops where tourists can obtain exquisitely crafted lamps, sculptures, and ornaments made of salt.

Furthermore, we will visit the breathtaking Katas Temple, a Hindu temple complex situated in Katas village near Choa Saidan Shah in the Chakwal district of Punjab. Dedicated to Shiva, the temple has, according to Hindu legend, existed since the days of the Mahābhārata, and the Pandava brothers spent a substantial part of their exile at the site. The temple and its surroundings represent an amazing blend of culture and history. Here, we will enjoy exploring the site. By evening, we will reach Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, for an overnight stay.

After enjoying a treaty breakfast at our hotel, we will embark on an exciting journey to Raikot Bridge, which is just an hour and a half drive away. From there, we will continue our adventure with a thrilling four-wheel jeep drive to Tato, which will take approximately two hours.

Once we reach Tato, the real enchantment begins. We will embark on a scenic three-hour hike to Fairy Meadow, where we will be greeted by breathtaking views of Nanga Parbat, surrounded by thick alpine forests and lush greenery. Fairy Meadows truly lives up to its name, as it feels like stepping into a fairy tale.

As we find ourselves amidst the snow-capped mountains that steal one’s hearts, we will experience the warmth and hospitality of the local people, creating unforgettable memories. To truly immerse ourselves in the culture, we will indulge in a delightful typical Pakistani dinner. Our overnight stay will be in cozy alpine huts, allowing us to sleep peacefully and rest.

The morning is absolutely breathtaking! We find ourselves immersed in the true beauty of nature as we enjoy an outdoor breakfast with a stunning view of the majestic Nanga Parbat, also known as the Killer Mountain. The experience is truly awe-inspiring.

After our delightful breakfast, we embark on a leisurely walk towards the Nanga Parbat Base Camp View Point, meandering through thick forests that offer mesmerizing views of the surrounding area. It’s a moment in life that feels almost surreal, witnessing such a splendid landscape that showcases the true artistry of nature.

Along the way to the viewpoint, we come across summer pastures and charming spots where we can sit and relish our meals, all while being treated to truly spectacular vistas. These panoramic views are nothing short of extraordinary.

As the day draws closer, we return to the alpine huts. We gather around a cozy campfire and engage in delightful dinner conversations while gazing at the vast expanse of stars above. The night sky stresses the natural beauty surrounding us, and the towering presence of the mountain creates a truly awe-inspiring atmosphere.

We spend the night in the comfortable alpine huts, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the tranquility of this remarkable setting fully.

Trekking to Tato and then driving to Gilgit, which is situated in the heart of the Karakoram Range and surrounded by magnificent peaks, with Rakaposhi being the most majestic of them all, is an extraordinary adventure. Gilgit can be reached both by road and by air. The journey follows the ancient Silk Route, offering an unforgettable experience as you traverse winding valleys and witness the splendor of cascading waterfalls.

We will explore the renowned Kargah Buddha, a rock carving beside the Kargah Nullah (stream), approximately 6 kilometers west of Gilgit along the old road to Punial. This site is a popular excursion from Gilgit.

The Buddha statue stands at a height of about 3 meters and overlooks Gilgit protectively. Carved in the 7th century, it showcases the remarkable skill of a talented master artisan.

After enjoying a delightful lunch, we will continue our journey to Karimabad, the former capital of Hunza Valley, which was once a princely state. The natural beauty of Hunza Valley is truly breathtaking, and the hospitality of its people is renowned. We will have the opportunity to relax and unwind at our hotel in the afternoon, taking in the serene surroundings.

We will begin our day by visiting the enchanting castle of Baltit, which is perched above Karimabad. This magnificent landmark was constructed approximately 900 years ago and was tentatively enlisted as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004. Baltit Fort offers a glimpse into the rich history and architectural wonders of the region.

Following our visit to Baltit Fort, we will indulge in a delicious lunch at a traditional Hunza home, where you can savor the local flavors and experience the warm hospitality of the Hunza people.

Next on our itinerary is a visit to Altit Fort, another historical gem in the region. This fort holds significant cultural and historical value, offering insights into the traditions and lifestyle of the Hunza people throughout the centuries.

After exploring Altit Fort, we will proceed to Duiker, a breathtaking location that boasts an elevation of 2935 meters above sea level. Prepare to be mesmerized by the awe-inspiring sunset view at Eagle’s Nest in Duiker, which provides a panoramic vista of the Hunza valley. The beauty of the surroundings is truly captivating and will leave you in awe.

As the day comes to a close, we will make our way to Gulmit, where we will spend the night. Gulmit is a charming village surrounded by stunning natural landscapes, offering a serene and peaceful atmosphere for a restful overnight stay.

Travel Time: 1:30 hours 43 Km

Gulmit, the capital of Gojal, is a small village at approximately 2400m, well above the flooded river. Much has changed here since the formation of the new ’Attabad Lake.’ Additionally, there are numerous fantastic day walks near the Karakoram Highway from Gulmit. A noteworthy attraction is the Gulmit Museum, which houses a collection of traditional ethnic artifacts. It is located in Raja Hussain Ali Khan’s room, adjacent to the Marco Polo Inn, and is highly recommended for a visit.

Old Gulmit is situated at the northern end of the polo ground. Here, you will discover the Mir of Hunza’s former summer residence, which is no longer in use, and the old Shia mosque with intricately carved woodwork, the Tomb of Silum Khan III, water mills, and old houses.

A drive to Passu will offer some of the area’s finest day walks and longer hikes. The village itself is more than 150 years old and holds the grazing rights on the northern side of the 56km long Batura Glacier. This allows for the support of large herds of yaks, cattle, sheep, and goats. However, Passu is less fortunate in terms of agricultural land. Afterward, drive back to Gilgit for an overnight stay in a hotel.  

The journey from Gulmit to Chilas in northern Pakistan is a captivating adventure through some of the region’s most breathtaking landscapes. Starting from the picturesque village of Gulmit, travelers will traverse the renowned Khunjerab Pass, the highest border crossing between Pakistan and China. The route continues along the mesmerizing Attabad Lake, formed by a massive landslide, and follows the majestic Indus River, offering stunning views of deep gorges and narrow valleys. A stop at the Nanga Parbat viewpoint allows for a glimpse of the towering peaks of the ninth-highest mountain in the world. The journey concludes in the town of Chilas, surrounded by rugged mountains and serving as a gateway to Fairy Meadows and the Nanga Parbat base camp. This unforgettable expedition showcases the awe-inspiring beauty of northern Pakistan, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.

Passing through towns and villages, you witness traditional architecture and vibrant bazaars. Approaching Islamabad, the landscape transitions to fertile plains, and the city greets you with its cosmopolitan charm and modern infrastructure. Sightseeing of ruins: Jaulian Monastery, Taxila Museum. Taxila is about 30 kilometers from Rawalpindi, a little off the main highway. Steeped deep in history, the excavations at Taxila take you back 2,500 years into the world of Buddha, Alexander, Asoka, and of course, Emperor Kanishka, whose imprints are visible today. It is here that the world’s most exciting civilizations took root. It is here that you find endless images of Buddha. 

We will find these in stone and stucco. The numerous panels uncovered here depict important stages of Buddha’s life. This great man of peace is depicted in exquisitely carved sculptures and statues glorifying him and his life. Each of these sculptures is a collector’s pride & visits the truck & bus painting workshop. Hassan Abdal (Sikh temple) – It is famous for Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib, one of the most sacred places of Sikhism. Thousands of Sikhs visit across the world the Gurdwara on the eve of Besakhi every year.
