Gilgit-Baltistan is a region in northern Pakistan with a rich history dating back thousands of years. Various empires and dynasties, including the Maurya Empire, Kushan Empire, Tibetan Empire, and Islamic Empire, have ruled it. In the 19th century, it came under the control of the British Empire and later became part of Pakistan. However, its status as a province or state has yet to be solved.

Despite the ongoing disputes, Gilgit-Baltistan is known for its breathtaking natural beauty, including the Karakoram Mountain range and the Hunza Valley. Some notable places to visit in the region include Gilgit City, known for its historic sites, suspension bridge, and rock carvings; Hunza Valley, famous for its mountain scenery, forts, and Attabad Lake; Skardu, a base for mountaineering expeditions and home to Kharpocho Fort and Kachura Lakes; Khunjerab Pass, one of the highest paved roads in the world and a border crossing with China; Deosai National Park, a high-altitude plateau with diverse flora and fauna; and Fairy Meadows, offering stunning views of Nanga Parbat.

Despite its unresolved status, Gilgit-Baltistan attracts tourists with its natural wonders and cultural heritage, making it a fascinating destination for adventure seekers and nature enthusiasts.
