All about the Sikh Yatra: A Sacred Pilgrimage of Gurdwaras.

Sikhism is a monotheistic religion that originated in the Punjab region of the Indian Subcontinent around the end of the 15th century. It is one of the youngest religions in the world. Pakistan is home to numerous Sikh shrines; this pilgrimage tour is specially made for the Sikh fraternity to pay homage to those holy shrines. The Shrine of Panja Sahib is considered to be important as the handprint of the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak, is believed to be imprinted on a boulder at the Gurdwara.

In Peshawar, we will visit Gurdwara Bhai Joga Singh, Gurdwara Rori Sahib near Gujranwala, & Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Narowal, one of the holiest sites in Sikhism. It is built on the historic site where the founder of Sikhism settled and assembled the Sikh community. Then to Gurdwara Sacha Sauda and Janam Asthan or Nankana Sahib near Sheikupura. It is named after the first Guru, who was born here, hence the most important religious site for them. We will visit Gurdwara Dera Sahib, Gurdwara Chuna Mandi, and Gurdwara Sheed Ganj in Lahore.

  1. DAY 1 ISLAMABAD

    Arrive in Islamabad. Our guide/representative will meet you at the airport and guide you to check-in at the hotel. You will have a rest and relax until the afternoon. Then we will stroll around the capital city that offers incredible places to see, like Shah Faisal Mosque, Lok Virsa Heritage Site, Daman-e-Koh, and many more.

    Check in to the hotel; it is your time to relax. In the afternoon, we will visit some beautiful Tourist Attractions in Islamabad. These include Shah Faisal Mosque, Daman-e-Koh, Islamabad Monument, Lok Virsa Museum, and other exciting places. Overnight stay in Islamabad hotel.

  2. DAY 2 ISLAMABAD-HASSON ABDAL

    This morning, after breakfast, we will drive to Hasan Abdal, a city in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The distance to Hasan Abdal is approximately 52 kilometers, which can be covered in about an hour by car.

    One of the notable attractions in Hasan Abdal is the famous Gurdwara Panja Sahib. This gurdwara holds great significance for Sikhs as it is believed to house a sacred rock imprinted with the handprint of Guru Nanak, the revered founder of Sikhism. Pilgrims from all over the world visit this site to pay their respects and seek blessings.

    After exploring Hasan Abdal and visiting Gurdwara Panja Sahib, we will drive back to Islamabad and spend the night in a hotel. Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan, offers a range of accommodation options to suit different preferences and budgets. It is known for its beautiful scenery, modern infrastructure, and vibrant culture.

  3. DAY 3 ISLAMABAD-LAHORE-NANKANA SAHIB

    The journey from Islamabad to Lahore offers a beautiful opportunity for a Sikh yatra, with several significant pilgrimage sites along the way.

    Starting from Islamabad, you can visit Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hasan Abdal, where Guru Nanak left his handprint on a boulder. Continuing the journey, Gurdwara Sacha Sauda in Farooqabad is another crucial Sikh pilgrimage site associated with Guru Nanak. Finally, in Lahore, you can visit Gurdwara Dera Sahib, the final resting place of Guru Arjan Dev, the fifth Sikh guru. These gurdwaras hold immense religious and historical significance for Sikhs, providing a serene environment for prayer and reflection.

  4. DAY 4 NANKANA SAHIB-SACHA SODA-ROHI SAHIB-CHAKKI SAHIB

    Tour to Nankana Sahib is a pilgrimage that holds great significance for Sikhs. Nankana Sahib, located in present-day Pakistan, is the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru. The tour begins from major Sikh centers in Lahore, and upon reaching Nankana Sahib, devotees engage in prayers and kirtan and listen to religious discourses. The community kitchen, Langar, serves free meals to all visitors, promoting equality and service. Pilgrims also visit other gurdwaras associated with Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s life.   5. DAY 5 DERA SAHIB

    Dera Sahib is a famous historical Sikh Gurdwara located in Lahore, Pakistan. It is the final resting place of Guru Arjan Dev, the fifth Sikh guru. The Gurdwara is situated on the Ravi River’s bank, near the Badshahi Mosque and Lahore Fort. It was constructed by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the Sikh ruler of the Punjab region, in the early 19th century.

     Dera Sahib is an important religious site and a symbol of interfaith harmony and peace in Pakistan. It is a testament to the country’s rich cultural heritage and serves as a reminder of the shared history between Sikhs and Muslims.

  6. DAY 6 DARBAR KARTARPUR SAHIB

    Kartarpur is a small town located in the Narowal district of Punjab, Pakistan. It holds immense religious significance for Sikhs worldwide due to the presence of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib. The town is situated on the banks of the Ravi River, just a few kilometers away from the India-Pakistan border.

    Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, also known as Kartarpur Sahib, is a revered Sikh shrine that marks the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism. It is believed that Guru Nanak spent the last 18 years of his life in Kartarpur and attained spiritual enlightenment here. He passed away in this town on September 22, 1539.

    The Gurdwara is a magnificent structure that attracts devotees from all over the world. It was initially built by Guru Nanak himself and later expanded by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the Sikh ruler of the Punjab region, in the early 19th century. The shrine underwent further renovations and expansions over the years to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims.

    Visitors to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib can experience a profound sense of spirituality and connect with the teachings of Guru Nanak. The Gurdwara complex is spread over a large area. It includes the main prayer hall, langar (community kitchen) hall, residential quarters for pilgrims, and a beautiful Sarovar (holy tank) known as the ”Kartarpur Pool.”

    The gurdwara serves as a symbol of peace and unity, attracting people from different faiths and backgrounds. It holds special significance for Sikhs as it is one of their most sacred sites, closely associated with Guru Nanak and his teachings of equality, service, and devotion.

    To visit Kartarpur and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, it is advisable to check the necessary travel requirements and obtain the appropriate permissions, as the town is located in Pakistan.

Participants of all nationalities must have a valid passport with six months remaining validity and a visa for Pakistan. Visa must be applied online at https://visa.nadra.gov.pk/

Here’s a general overview of the weather conditions in some popular historical destinations in Pakistan:

Lahore experiences hot summers with temperatures often exceeding 40°C (104°F) in June and July. Winters are mild, with temperatures ranging from 5°C to 20°C (41°F to 68°F). The best time to visit Lahore is in spring (March to April) and autumn (October to November) when the weather is pleasant.

Islamabad:

Islamabad has a moderate climate. Summers (May to September) are warm, with temperatures ranging from 25°C to 35°C (77°F to 95°F). Winters (December to February) can be cold, with temperatures dropping to around 0°C (32°F) or lower. The best time to visit Islamabad is during spring and autumn when the weather is pleasant.

Taxila:

Taxila, known for its archaeological sites, experiences similar weather conditions to Islamabad since it is located nearby. Summers can be hot, and winters are cold. The best time to visit Taxila is during spring and autumn.

Mohenjo-Daro:

Mohenjo-Daro, an ancient Indus Valley Civilization site, is in the Sindh province. The region has a hot desert climate. Summers (April to June) are sweltering, reaching over 45°C (113°F). Winters (December to February) are mild and pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 5°C to 20°C (41°F to 68°F). Visiting Mohenjo-daro during the winter months is advisable to avoid the extreme heat.

Multan is located in the Punjab province of Pakistan and experiences a semi-arid climate with hot and dry weather. Summers in Multan are sweltering, with temperatures often exceeding 45°C (113°F) in May and June. The city receives very little rainfall during this season. It is essential to stay hydrated and protect yourself from the intense heat if visiting during summer. The monsoon season occurs from July to September, providing some relief from the heat with moderate rainfall. The trip can be reserved with an initial deposit of 30% at the time of booking. The initial deposit shall not be refunded but can be transferred for a future trip.

FINAL PAYMENT

We require the full cost of the trip to be paid 30 days prior to the start of the tour. Payments can only be made in cash or through bank transfers to our designated bank account. We do not accept payments via credit cards. Please ensure that you only accepted invoices generated by Discover Pakistan and sent through our official email ID.

1)      Cancellations must be communicated in writing to Discover Pakistan or the agent through whom the trip was booked. Cancellation charges will be applied as follows:

Cancellation before 30 days or more: After deducting 30%, the remaining amount will be refunded. If the deposit is retained with the consent of our client, no cancellation charges will be applied. The full amount can be adjusted toward a future trip.
Cancellation within two weeks before departure: 50% of the package offer will be charged.
Cancellation within one week of departure or no-show: The full payment will be forfeited.
No refunds will be provided if you voluntarily or involuntarily leave the trip after it has started. Additionally, no refunds will be given for any unused meals, accommodation, or services.
